Module 1

Orientation: CherryBank, Cloud Accounting And AI

Introduce CherryBank as a practical accounting workspace and explain how AI supports, but does not replace, review and judgement.

Learning Goals

By the end of this module, learners should be able to complete the workflow in CherryBank and explain the accounting reason behind each important step.

  • Navigate the public site, login, dashboard, left menu and help centre.
  • Explain the difference between Quick mode and Expert mode.
  • Understand the role of AI suggestions, confidence badges and human approval.
  • Identify which features depend on plan, role and organisation type.

Lesson Plan

Use these lesson blocks for lecture delivery, live demo and class discussion.

What CherryBank is for

CherryBank brings invoicing, expenses, VAT review, payroll summary packs, UK onboarding and governance into one workspace.

How AI fits into finance work

AI can suggest categories, explain workflow next steps and reduce routine admin. Students must still review, approve and evidence the final decision.

Feature visibility

Students learn that a sole trader, limited company and VCSE organisation may not see the same features because plan, role and organisation type control access.

Step-By-Step Lab

This is the student-facing sequence for the practical class. Complete the steps in order, then capture the evidence listed below.

  1. Open the training tenant and sign in as the student operator.
  2. Review the dashboard, left menu, UK Workflow Hub and help centre links.
  3. Switch to the reviewer role and compare which finance actions are visible.
  4. Open an AI suggestion example and identify the evidence a human should check.
  5. Write a short reflection on where CherryBank assists the user and where judgement remains with the learner.

Classroom Run Sheet

Use this structure to teach the module in a repeatable classroom or lab session.

Explain

Evidence
Evidence this module Students submit screenshots, exports, PDFs or short explanations for assessment.

Simulator Practice

These are the VM practice tasks for this module. They are written as student-facing tasks and can later be wired into a guided simulator checklist.

Practice Brief

  1. Log in as each demo role and note which menu items are visible.
  2. Open the UK Workflow Hub and identify which tiles are enabled for the demo organisation.
  3. Switch between Quick mode and Expert mode where available and write down what changes.

Knowledge Check

Use these questions for in-class review, a short quiz or a reflective workbook entry.

  1. Why should AI suggestions be reviewed before approval?
  2. What decides whether a user can see a module in CherryBank?
  3. What is the difference between Quick mode and Expert mode?

Assessment And Evidence

Students should submit proof that the workflow was completed and a short explanation of the decisions made.

Student Evidence

  • Submit a short explanation of how AI should be used safely in accounting software.
  • Identify three examples of plan-aware or role-aware feature access.

Trainer Notes

  • Start with a guided walk-through before allowing independent simulator practice.
  • Remind learners not to treat AI output as final without review.

Continue The Course

Move through the modules in order for a complete accounting, invoicing, compliance and AI finance workflow.
