Module 9

Payroll Summary Packs

Prepare payroll review packs where the plan includes payroll features.

Learning Goals

By the end of this module, learners should be able to complete the workflow in CherryBank and explain the accounting reason behind each important step.

  • Identify when payroll features are visible based on plan and role.
  • Record or review payroll-related costs.
  • Generate a payroll summary pack.
  • Explain what a reviewer should check before filing or sharing payroll data.

Lesson Plan

Use these lesson blocks for lecture delivery, live demo and class discussion.

Payroll visibility

Payroll appears only where the assigned plan and role allow it.

Payroll pack purpose

The pack gathers payroll-related records for review, not automatic payroll filing.

Step-By-Step Lab

This is the student-facing sequence for the practical class. Complete the steps in order, then capture the evidence listed below.

  1. Confirm the selected plan and role include payroll access.
  2. Open payroll summary or payroll pack from the workflow hub.
  3. Review payroll-related cost records for the month.
  4. Generate the payroll summary pack.
  5. Check totals, period, reviewer notes and missing data warnings.
  6. Export the pack as assessment evidence using fictional data only.

Classroom Run Sheet

Simulator Practice

These are the VM practice tasks for this module. They are written as student-facing tasks and can later be wired into a guided simulator checklist.

Practice Brief

  1. Open the payroll area for a plan that includes payroll.
  2. Prepare a payroll summary pack for the current month.
  3. Compare what a sole trader plan sees against a higher company plan.

Knowledge Check

Use these questions for in-class review, a short quiz or a reflective workbook entry.

  1. Why might payroll not be visible to every user?
  2. What should be checked in a payroll summary pack?
  3. Why should payroll data in training always be fictional?

Assessment And Evidence

Students should submit proof that the workflow was completed and a short explanation of the decisions made.

Student Evidence

  • Submit a payroll pack summary and explain the review checks needed.

Trainer Notes

  • Use fictional employee and payroll data only.
